Counting crows on a desert hill
( Miriam Midnight ITA )
You asked me how it feels,
well, let me tell you that it feels like
counting crows on a desert hill.
One, two three
Here they come like black drops of tears
Again and again
Dancing all over my head,
drawing hypnotic circles in the air.
One, two, three
Here’s the next getting into my eyes
Entering my veins and my heart, melting into my soul,
Poisoning the one I was.
There is nothing you can do or say
And nowhere you can run when you are
All alone counting crows on a desert hill,
wondering who’ll be the next
before night appears.
One, two, three
Here they come
And I say : Please feed, feed again ‘cause nor your skinny wings
or silvery beaks, nor your diamond claws or terrible croaks
but just her distant mermaid song
Is now all that I can fear.
