HOPE
SPERANZA

This year I don’t want gifts
I turn my head to greetings
the excessive deadly events
make my days insecure.
The air is ablaze from the
evil
mines that blow up the earth
and even breathing is lethal
when every day a war lives.
I don’t want any more bloody
sea
or hatred from a violent sky
people who fear and grieve
but a feeling of a life more
just.
Where are you Christ my God
while the hungry remain
unfed
is it all merely an
oversight
where is that infinite faith.
May he who is born watching
the sunset
gallop the immense universe
bringing to Christmas that
which is possible
a new and different tomorrow.
